DBT skills group isn’t a typical therapy group, it’s more like a class where you learn concrete skills to make your life better right away. You’ll learn skills to help you manage your emotions, have better relationships and stop addictive or compulsive behaviors.
The Four DBT Skill Modules are:
Core Mindfulness – how to be present in the moment and aware of thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and bodily feelings in a non-judgmental way
Distress Tolerance – how to work with overwhelming thoughts and emotions in the moment to reduce the uncomfortable feelings they cause
Emotion Regulation – how to respond to your emotions instead of react to them and learn to problem solve
Interpersonal Effectiveness – dealing with conflict effectively and asserting your needs while maintaining relationships and your self-respect.
